Loxe Mareiro restaurant

Referencing the traditional spanish 'chiringuito', or 'bar on the beach', spanish firm cenlitrosmetrocadrado have developed this 'loxe mareiro', meaning 'seaside warehouse'. the restaurant is located in the northwest of spain in the region of galicia, and the building has been used throughout history as a maritime traffic control post, shipyard and marine supplies store. exploring the idea of the local beach bar, the design incorporates temporary solutions, improvisation, versatility of use and the recycling of low cost materials. divided into three different spaces: the terrace, the dining room and the kitchen, visitors are presented with a combined gastronomic and seafront experience. both indoor and outdoor furniture pieces were designed to be flexible in their use, as the need for a fast installation and limited storage space were key project requirements.
